Matchups, Season Jackpot & Weekly Events

What is a Matchup?
A Matchup is a head-to-head game against a specific other player. You can play against a friend, challenge someone on the leaderboard, or rematch the player who just took all your money 😜.

Matchups can be played at your own pace -- no stressful countdown timer. When it's your turn, you've got 48 hours to make your move, and then your opponent will be notified to make their move.

The Matchups screen lets you keep track of all your Matchups that are in progress, and easily start new ones by searching for a user by their username, or by choosing one of the suggested Matchups.

When starting a Matchup, you can just play "FOR FUN", or you can up the stakes and play for a cash prize amount. Each player puts up half of the prize amount, and the winner claims the prize!

When you challenge someone, you put up your half of the money, but if they don't accept within 24hrs, you get it back. And then once the game is accepted, if either player takes longer than 48 hours to make their move, then they forfeit the game.

Season Jackpot

The Season Jackpot is a knockout tournament of Matchups where the last player left standing wins the big jackpot prize for the Season!

If a Season Jackpot event is available, you can find it and join on the Events screen. There is a timed Entry Window at the start of a Season Jackpot to join. If you miss it, just wait for the next one.

Once you’re in, you’ll be placed in a Matchup against a random other player in the tournament. The winner advances to the next Round and a new opponent. The losing player is knocked out of the tournament. In the case of a tie, both players stay in to try again.

The matches continue to higher and higher Rounds until there is only one player left standing, and that player can claim the jackpot prize. Note that occasionally you may be waiting at a given Round for a while in order to give other players a chance to catch up to where you are. You'll be notified your new Round starts.

Similar to regular Matchups, you can take your turn at your own pace. But in order to keep things moving along, you’ll only have 18hrs to take your turn instead of 48hrs. (Tip: Make sure notifications are enabled so you never miss your turn and forfeit the match!)

Weekly Events

There are a variety of other smaller tournaments that you can join every few days. The rules are the same as the Season Jackpot with just a few differences.

Some of the tournaments focus on a single game (ex. "Best of Magnet Madness", "Best of Blasteroids"), so all matches will be for that game. If you haven't yet unlocked the game for that tournament, then you'll need to increase your Player Rank and unlock it first before you'll be able to Join.

In addition, for the smaller tournaments, the Entry Window is usually shorter (so be sure to check for new events each day).

Other than that, these tournaments play out in the same way as the Season Jackpot, where the last player standing gets the top prize!

Using Bananas

Bananas are awarded to players that play and practice every day, and can be used to help you enter and win more tournaments!

For some tournaments, if you are knocked out early (while the Entry Window is still open, and before the Knockout Phase begins), then you'll be offered the chance to "Buy Back In" by spending some of your Bananas to get another shot at joining the tournament. You can Buy Back In as many times are you like as long as the Entry Window is still open and you have enough Bananas to pay for it (the cost to Buy Back In may increase with each additional attempt). So be sure to collect as many Bananas as you can to increase your odds of staying in the big competitions.

Also, some tournaments require a small amount of Bananas in order to enter, so they are exclusive only to our most loyal players. By using some Bananas to enter more exclusive tournaments, you can increase your chances of being one of our big winners.

RunnerUP Prize Tables

The winner of a tournament will get the big Top Prize! But even if you're not the final winner, you can still win a prize based on what Round you made it to (ex. If the Round you finished at is 4 places below where the Winner finished, then you'd claim the 4th RunnerUP prize). You'll be able to claim your prize in the app once the tournament has completed.

You can view the full Prize Table for a tournament by selecting that tournament in the Events tab and then selecting PRIZES.
