$$$ Bonus Cash for Private Tourneys $$$
If you’re looking for general info about Private Tourneys, skip down below. But if you’re interested in earning some Bonus Cash, you’ve come to the right place. 💰
Private Tourneys are a new feature that we are testing out, and we’d love to see some early examples of big player-created tournaments. To encourage this, we are offering a special Bounty for the first person to get over 1,000 players into a Private Tourney.
That player will get $100 credited into their account, and the winner of that event will get an additional $100 credit into their account. So share your links far and wide, and let’s see just how big we can get this thing!
Once someone successfully claims the bonus, we’ll post that event here (and maybe offer a bigger prize for an even bigger event???). We are also planning ways to reward *all* event hosts (big or small) with some incentives and prizes, and will update this page with more information.
What is a Private Tourney?
With Private Tourneys, you can create and run your own tournaments on TallyUP, limited just to the people you want. You can create an event for your family or friends, or share the link more broadly to your followers or subscribers. Once everyone has joined, just kick off the event and it will play out like a normal TallyUP tournament until there is just one winner remaining!
To create a Private Tourney, look for the button at the top of the Events tab. When setting up your event, you can choose any custom prize you want. It can be something small (like getting to ride shotgun), or something bigger (like a free iPhone), or just something ridiculous (like a pet unicorn). Whatever it is, as the event host, you’ll be on the hook to deliver, so make sure you’re clear when you share out the link. 😛
You’ll also choose the Timers for your event. The default is “Casual”, which means that players will have up to 18hrs to make each move or else they time out and forfeit. This makes it easier and more fair for larger groups to play at their own pace, and the tournament may play out over days or weeks. You can also select “Real-Time” Timers, which means that players will all need to be online at the same time throughout the tournament, they’ll need to make their moves immediately to avoid timing out, and the final winner will likely be crowned in less than an hour.
Once you create your event, you’ll be giving your special Join Link that you can share out to as many or as few people as you want. Text it to your siblings, share it in a Discord server, or blast it out publicly on social media. Anyone that clicks that link will be given the option to join your event (if they don’t yet have TallyUP on their phone, they’ll first be prompted to download it and create an account), and you’ll see all the players that join in the “Leaderboard” section of your event.
Whenever you are happy with your group of participants, just tap the CLOSE ENTRY AND START EVENT button. This will lock in the group of players and kick off the first round of the tournament (all players will get randomly matched up, and they’ll be notified that their game has begun). If you chose “Casual” Timers, then players will have up to 18hrs to make their first move. But if you chose “Real-Time”, then make sure that all players know to be online and ready at the moment you start the event so that they don’t miss their first move and get timed out.
The event will play out similar to any TallyUP tournament until there is just one player left standing, who will be declared the winner. As the host, it’s now your responsibility to award the prize (if there was one). In case you don’t actually know the winner personally (ex. If you posted the event link publicly), you can always use the “Prize Claim Code” in order to verify the winner’s identity. Both you and the winner will be shown the same random Claim Code at the end of the event, so you can ask them to contact you with the code to prove they won.
Private Tourneys are a new feature, so we’d love to hear any feedback and suggestions about it. Because it is in a “Beta Test”, we will be limiting the number of active Private Tourneys that can be run at any one time – an individual player is limited to 5 active Private Tourneys, and the community is limited to 2000 active Private Tourneys at any one time. We will be raising these limits in the future as we monitor performance.
Don’t hesitate to contact us at support@tallyup.com if you have any questions or comments, or if you find any bugs that we should fix. You can also join our very active Discord community and post your questions/feedback there.
